Turnout nearly doubled!

I want to take a moment to share some very exciting news. During the Primary Election held earlier this month, we saw a substantial increase in voter turn-out in the Kansas 32nd House District - almost doubling the number of votes cast compared to the last midterm Primary Election!

Over the past 5 years, increasing voter turnout in our district has been a priority of mine. This trend is the result of a collective effort of many of us working to increase voter engagement, and I am proud of the positive effects these efforts are having on our community.

You can see from the chart below the gains that we made.

During the 2017 session in the Kansas Legislature, we passed legislation that ensured that mail-in ballots postmarked by Election Day and received no later than 3 days following the Election would be counted. This year in HD 32 a total of 281 ballots were received after election day and, because of the legislation we passed, those votes were counted.

In the 2014 midterm General Election, a total of 1282 votes were cast in our District. With the continued effort to engage more voters, I am confident we can increase that number! I plan to do everything I can between now and November to get more people to vote in this important election and hope that you will join me in this effort.

Make sure you’re prepared for the upcoming Election on November 6th.
